Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is shaping up to be a killer VR game

Coming this Holiday

Electronic Arts has released brand-new footage of the VR-only first-person shooter Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. This new trailer is focusing on the story of the upcoming Oculus exclusive title and is a great reason to jump into the VR scene. Watch it here!

First unveiled last year, the VR spin-off from the venerable WWII shooter series Medal of Honor is an unexpected title. But the people behind it give great reason to be hopeful to witness the birth of a standout virtual reality experience.

Respawn Entertainment from Apex Legends and Titanfall fame are behind Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. Given the expertise of the studio in the FPS genre, the long-awaited successful return for the franchise could come in the VR space.

Medal of Honor™: Above and Beyond is an action-packed, immersive VR experience set in World War II, where you step into the boots of an agent of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in war-torn Europe. A deep single-player campaign takes you through historic events on land, air, and sea, sabotaging Nazi bases, subverting enemy plans, aiding the French Resistance, and much, much more. In this blog series, we’ll take you inside the development process, exploring everything from the lengths the audio team went to get the authentic sounds of a Sherman tank, to the in-depth interviews with WWII veterans featured in the game.

The timing couldn’t be better too. Valve has proven with this year’s Half-Life: Alyx that major franchises can very well do VR. Not only that, but return to the limelight with it! Medal of Honor is a troubled series that failed to stay relevant despite being once more popular than the CoD franchise. Failed reboots last-gen all but sealed its fate.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is planned to release this Holiday exclusively for PC via the Oculus headset.
