Xbox Series X has only been out for a day but Phil Spencer has declared it as a historic day. In 24 hours, the next-gen Xbox has “sold more consoles, in more countries, than ever before”.
Thank you for supporting the largest launch in Xbox history. In 24 hrs more new consoles sold, in more countries, than ever before. We’re working with retail to resupply as quickly as possible. You continue to show us the connective power of play is more important than ever.

This likely doesn’t count all of the Xbox units that have been delayed by Amazon. Some pre-orders were delayed but will arrive throughout December. Xbox Series X will continue to sell big numbers through these backorders and new inventory at other retailers like GameStop.
Within the last 24 hours, it seems like Xbox Series X has been largely problem free. Despite rumors of units emitting smoke, the only legitimate issue seems to be an issue with the disc-drive. For a small number of users, their disc-drive will make a super unnerving noise when you put a game or movie in it. We imagine this will be ironed out rather quickly.
Aside from that, this historic Xbox launch almost never happened. Phil Spencer recently revealed in a new interview that he almost quit Xbox and the brand was almost shut down. Shortly after the launch of Xbox One, Microsoft was reevaluating the brand but ultimately decided to push forward.
Xbox Series X is out now. We’ll have a review of the console coming soon.
