EA released a new trailer for Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. This time it’s all about the multiplayer mode of the VR shooter. Suffice to say, things look very promising. Check out the trailer below!
Virtual Reality is here and it’s alive. But you wouldn’t know that going by the sheer lack of support from big companies. The hardware itself is very advanced thanks to several revisions. And with entry headsets starting at $299 the entry barrier is as low as never before.
Sadly, it needs more than just that for mass appeal. Sony’s PSVR has arguably done the biggest work for it. But the truth is, unless big publishers release big and compelling VR games, it will remain a niche.
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is one of these much-needed VR games. Published by Electronic Arts and developed by Respawn Entertainment, the VR-only FPS has a lot going for it. Namely, the magic touch of first-person shooter masters of Respawn.
The team consists of veteran creators who are responsible for the original CoD: Modern Warfare, Titanfall, and Apex Legends. Seeing that, it makes only sense to expect Respawn to be the perfect match to create a great VR shooter.
While not as popular as in its heyday, the Medal of Honor name also ought to help propel interest. Apart from a full single-player campaign, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond also goes heavily in multiplayer.
Five modes aim to deliver a meaty multiplayer experience. There are the usual suspects of Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Domination. But also unique modes like Mad Bomber and Blast Radius.
The former revolves around defusing explosives and dishing out bombs yourself. While the latter is a King of the Hill mode with a heavy emphasis on rocket launchers.
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond comes out December 11th on PC for the Oculus Rift and Steam VR.
