PATRIOTS TOP TITANS AS "NFL FEVER ON MONDAY NIGHT" CONTINUES ON
XBOX.COM
Today, Microsoft announced
the results of Week 15 of “NFL Fever on Monday Night.”
“NFL Fever on Monday Night”
is a simulated highlight reel, game summary and statistics which appears every
Friday on
www.xbox.com previewing the upcoming Monday Night game. All games are
played in incredibly realistic replicas of NFL stadiums, using Microsoft Game
Studios’ “NFL Fever 2003” for Xbox.
Last week, “NFL Fever on
Monday Night” continued to build on its impressive record this year correctly
predicting the Miami Dolphins over the Chicago Bears. Fever’s simulation called
for the Dolphins Running back Ricky Williams to run wild against the banged up
Bears defense. In the actual game, Ricky Williams ran for 216 yards and 2 TD’s. “NFL
Fever on Monday Night has now correctly predicted ten of the last eleven Monday
Night contests, including a current five game winning streak.
This week “NFL Fever on
Monday Night” features the Super Bowl Champion and AFC East leading New England
Patriots traveling to Music City to battle Steve McNair and the AFC South
leading Tennessee Titans.
The first quarter was a
nightmare for the Patriots. First they fell behind 7-0 when Steve McNair hit
Derrick Mason on a 39-yard TD strike and then they lost star running Antowain
Smith to a season ending injury.
With Smith out the Pats
turned to Kevin Faulk. Early in the second quarter, Faulk responded by taking a
Tom Brady screen pass the distance for a 66-yard tying score. At the half, the
score was knotted at 7.
In the third defense took
over the game. “The Freak” Jevon Kearse chipped in with 2 sacks in his first
action since a Week One foot injury and the Titans defense was able to intercept
a Tom Brady pass which set up the quarter’s only score an 18-yard Joe Nedney
field goal.
But in the end, Titan’s
coach Jeff Fischer’s decision to kick a chip shot field goal rather than attempt
a fourth-and less-than-a-yard play from the one would loom large in this game’s
outcome. With only 50 seconds to play in the game Tom Brady hit super-sub Kevin
Faulk again for an 8 yard TD pass to give the Pats there first lead of the game
14-10.
After a Ted Johnson sack, a
clock-stopping spike, an incomplete pass and batted pass the game was over, and
Patriots were victorious.
Kevin Faulk was named this
week’s Player of the Game finishing with 115 all-purpose yards and two
touchdowns. The win was a big one for New England but the loss of Antowain Smith
is huge with the playoffs just a few weeks away. The win upped the Pats record
to 9-5 the loss dropped the Titans to 8-6.
