EIDOS
ANNOUNCES DEUS EX "GAME OF THE YEAR" EDITION EIDOS SETS MAY RELEASE
DATE FOR SPECIAL EDITION OF THE AWARD-WINNING FIRST PERSON ADVENTURE GAME

San
Francisco, Ca. (March 8, 2001) – Eidos Interactive, (NASDAQ: EIDSY), a leading
worldwide interactive entertainment publisher, today announced that its
award-winning first-person shooter, Deus Ex, will be re-released in a special
"Game Of The Year" Edition that will be available this May.
Developed by Ion Storm Austin, Deus Ex has recently been honored with PC Gamer
magazine’s coveted "Game Of The Year" prize in its annual best-of
awards.

Published
by Imagine Media, the annual PC Gamer awards honor the top PC games that were
published over the past year. Ion Storm’s Deus Ex beat out a year’s worth of
other titles to become "The Game of the Year." PC Gamer says,
"Deus Ex is nothing short of a brilliant game, and was this year’s finest
credit to the art form of game creation." In addition to the recognition
of PC Gamer, Deus Ex has also received over 30 "Game of the Year"
accolades from numerous other industry and fan publications, including
"Best PC Game of 2000" by the British Academy of Film &
Television Arts (BAFTA).

"Eidos
is pleased to be publishing the ‘Game Of The Year’ edition," says Paul
Baldwin, Vice President of Marketing for Eidos Interactive. "We are
extremely proud of Ion Storm Austin’s achievements; they have developed a
visually stunning game that delivers a fantastic combination of realism and
storyline."

In
Deus Ex, the gamer plays the role of J.C. Denton, a rookie anti-terrorist
agent with UNATCO — the UN Anti-terrorist Coalition. J.C.’s a nano-technologically
augmented guy with remarkable abilities, and he’s charged with investigating
terrorist activity in and around New York concerning a plague called the Gray
Death. The plague has no cure and the only known treatment is Ambrosia, which
is in short supply. J.C. has to make sure the terrorists don’t divert supplies
of Ambrosia from the people who need it to whoever it is they want to get it.
But as J.C. battles the terrorists, he begins to question some of his orders.
Eventually, J.C. ends up on the outs with UNATCO and is caught in the middle
as various figures and groups vie for control of the world. In discovering all
this, J.C. learns about yet another entity, with a diabolical agenda of its
own.

In
addition to the latest version of the award-winning single-player game, the
Deus Ex "Game of the Year" Edition also includes an all-new
multiplayer feature, allowing players to compete head-to-head with one another
in a totally new kind of deathmatch experience as innovative in its own way as
the original, single-player game. The "Game Of The Year" Edition
will contain a Software Development Kit for gamers to create new single or
multiplayer missions with the same tools used by the developer. Gamers can
also create stand-alone Deus Ex missions, build 3D maps from scratch or modify
existing ones. Also included is a music CD featuring over 30 of the best
tracks from the soundtrack remixed for higher audio quality.

The
Deus Ex "Game Of The Year" Edition will be available in stores May
2001.
