Microsoft
UK today unveiled the official UK StarLancer web site located at http://www.starlancer.co.uk/
StarLancer
is the highly anticipated new game being developed by Erin and Chris
Roberts, creators of the popular Wing Commander and Privateer series. A
futuristic space combat game that combines the action of a first-person
space shooter with the drama and intrigue of a
classic air combat movie, StarLancer will
launch in the UK on Friday 28th April 2000.
The
new site provides even more detailed information on the game, including
new screen shots, AVIs and sounds from the game.
The site also has details of several
amazing UK pre-order programs that are open now. Plus, coming soon
– your opportunity to enlist in the StarLancer Preview Program.
Additionally,
to celebrate the upcoming launch of StarLancer, Microsoft UK is
giving recruits a chance to win a trip of a lifetime to “Space Camp”.
We’ll fly you and a friend to Alabama, USA, to
enlist in the Advance Space Academy program
where your week long adventure will include scuba diving in the
on-site Underwater Astronaut Trainers and the chance to experience weightlessness
and 4 G’s of force when you blast off at least 160 feet on SPACE
SHOT™. Your adventure will culminate in an exciting six-hour simulated
shuttle mission. Competition open to UK residents
aged 18 years old and over.
StarLancer
delivers a level of graphic details and special effects not currently
found in space combat games. More than 80 types of spacecraft are rendered
in extraordinary 3-D detail adding to the complexity of the dynamic mission
structure. Players fly in over 25 gripping missions that range from escorting
marine boarding ships to free POWs to leading an assault on space stations
built right into an asteroid field. StarLancer will also include some
exciting multiplayer features. Players can work together cooperatively throughout
the entire story, with up to four players. Gamers can also dogfight
in six different deathmatch modes with up to eight players via LAN or
the MSN Gaming Zone (http://zone.msn.co.uk).
StarLancer
will be launch in the UK on Friday 28th April 2000, for an estimated
street price of 34.99 inc VAT. For more information on StarLancer or
