SEGA: Shenmue III “Might” Be Released Someday

Waiting to see what happened to Ryo after the events of Shenmue II? Yah, so am I, in addition to thousands of other gamers. Thankfully, it seems that the series may see a revival through the success of the upcoming MMO Shenmue City.

“Shenmue itself is an incomplete work,” said series creator Yu Suzuki to Andriasang. “There is a story post Shenmue II. While I can’t make any promises at present, if Shenmue City is loved by users, and if service for the game continues, I believe we’ll be able to deliver those through version ups and so forth.”

Although it’s an online game, Shenmue City appears to contain some story elements that will help further the franchise and hopefully push SEGA into doing a proper console sequel to the game. “If service continues, I believe we’ll be able to share [the rest of the story] at some point in some form.”
