Why we chose it: Mario Kart DS is not only the best game to be found on the Nintendo DS, it’s also the best kart racer ever developed. The replay value of this title is through the roof and the challenge surpasses every one of its predecessors. Whether you can round up eight guys for some crazy multiplayer or if you’re a bit of a lone ranger, you’ll find plenty to be satisfied with in Mario Kart DS. In the end, even though it faced tough competition, Mario Kart DS power-slides its way into stardom with the biggest award this year: DS Game of the Year 2005.
