DS Opera Browser: No Software Filter

Word came out today that the upcoming online web browser for the Nintendo DS made by Opera software will not have built-in filtering which would block “inappropriate” material when it is released in Japan on July 24.

However, Nintendo has made a partnership with Digital Arts which will enable – for a price – parents to download optional software on their DS systems which would act as a filter and cost a monthly fee of 315 Yen (US $2.70).

It is still unknown just what the case will be for the web browser when, or even if, it is released overseas, but Advanced Media will be sure to report any developments in this area as soon as they come to light.
