After doing a little bit of digging through Konami’s 2008-2009 fiscal report, the SF Console Game Examiner has learned that the PlayStation 3 was their top platform for software sales over that period.
The breakdown of software sold on each platform over the 2008-2009 fiscal year is thus:
Playstation 3 – 28%
Nintendo Wii – 17%
Playstation 2 – 17%
Nintendo DS – 16%
PSP – 12%
Xbox 360 – 7%
PC – 2%
Which is quite the turnaround from the previous year:
Playstation 2 – 34%
Nintendo DS – 24%
PSP – 16%
Nintendo Wii – 9%
Playstation 3 – 8%
Xbox 360 – 5%
PC – 2%
With last year’s release of Metal Gear Solid 4, however, it’s little wonder that the PlayStation 3 took the biggest piece of last year’s pie. After all, what did Konami really release on the other platforms? Castlevania Judgment? Lost in Blue: Shipwrecked?
Actually, looking over game lists, last year seemed a bit slow for Konami, for the most part. I wonder if this year will prove different.
