Frequent DLC planned for Modern Warfare 3

While Activision has already unleashed the biggest entertainment release of all time, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, they are not satisfied. According to an interview with Wired, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg says the developer plans on unleashing more frequent DLC, and adding more than just multiplayer map packs within those add-ons.

Hirshberg said, “The idea of giving people constant incremental playable content and making it so you’re never more than a few weeks away from the next new experience within the Call of Duty universe is part of what we’re experimenting with….This franchise doesn’t really behave like most franchises. It’s become something of a year-round activity for a large percentage of our player population.”

The CEO went on to explain that breaking the content down into smaller, more frequent add-ons will benefit players, and allow them to have more fresh experience everytime they jump online. Hirshberg also noted that their team has learned from past Call of Duty titles that fans want more than just multiplayer maps, so the studio plans on adding more spec-ops missions, and other action-packed goodies.

Future Modern Warfare 3 add-ons will be heavily influenced by fan's responses and desires on social media outlets including: Facebook, Twitter, and messageboards. Activision's biggest wish from releasing more frequent content is that more players will subscribe to Call of Duty: Elite, which gives free DLC for the $50 yearly subscription price.
