If you've played the Diablo III beta, you may be led to believe that the game will be extremely easy. That won't be the case with later difficulties, claims the 3D Artists working on the game. In a newly released video, Diablo 3's artists gather together to warn you of the increased difficulties and challenges that come with the later modes like Nightmare, Hell, and the brand new Inferno.
At BlizzCon 2011, the Diablo III Gameplay panel included this video from 3D Artist Kevin K. Griffith, Environment Artist Nate Bowden, Senior Artist Nick Eberle, and 3D Artist Richie Marella who were tasked with answering the question, "How hard is this game going to be in Nightmare difficulty and above?"
The artists describe normal mode, which is currently what the Diablo III beta is, as "casual" and "fun". It's when you enter Nightmare mode when the game really starts. From there you go to Hell, when it gets REALLY hard, and then onto Inferno where the team warns you that the "first whole monster pack will own you."
Point being, the current Diablo III beta is not even remotely close to the challenges you will face with the more difficult modes. As you are about to hear from the team of Diablo III artists, you are in for quite a ride.
"The way the game's tuned right now, people have no idea what they're getting themselves into," they warn.
I admit, in my beta experiences, it has been extremely easy. But it is that last quote that has me most excited.
"When you get to Nightmare, and Hell, and Inferno you will get your asses kicked. We promise."
