When it Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD launched on the PlayStation Network late last year, it became an instant critical success. The game offered a ton of charm and stellar action-adventure gameplay. Unfortunately, Xbox 360 gamers couldn't experience the awesome remake due to Microsoft's 2GB file size limit for Xbox Live Arcade. Bummer!
Developer Just Add Water wanted to have Microsoft to publish the game, and it even attempted to self-publish the digital download, but it doesn't seem like either of those plans are options at the moment. According to Just Add Water head honcho Stewart Gilray, the studio is in talks with different publishers to see who will get the game out for Xbox Live Arcade.
Gilray explained that Just Add Water's best bet for releasing the game on the Xbox 360's download service is to have a third-party publisher on board. "We’re speaking to two or three different publishers at the moment about taking it on for us," he said in an interview with VG247. "I think we’ll probably have some news on that by Easter, I hope."
Here's hoping Stranger's Wrath HD does in fact land on Xbox Live Arcade. It really is a great game that deserves to be played by the masses. And it's pretty unfortunate that the game can't be released on the platform due to it surpassing the file size limit by a measly 0.1GB. That's right, the game isn't allowed on Xbox Live Arcade because it's 2.1GB instead of 2GB. Ugh …
