If there's one thing that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 needed, it was an endorsement from Kim Kardashian — the "celebrity" whose booty and sex tape got her a reality tv show and millions off of a fake marriage. She's famous for being famous. And apparently she is a big Call of Duty fan. On her Twitter account, @KimKardashian, she couldn't contain her excitement after seeing the Black Ops 2 reveal trailer.
Now, even though Call of Duty sells a ridiculous amount of copies every year, it receives a lot of hate. Even I have bashed the game before, as I wasn't a big fan of Black Ops or Modern Warfare 3. But now that Kim Kardashian is vouching for the game, people can't deny the power of Call of Duty, right? In her first tweet, she said, "The graphics look crazy!" Really Kim? You mean the same graphics that they've had since Modern Warfare looked crazy? Or was it all of the explosions that was crazy? Or maybe it was the robots and horses that you thought were crazy. But the graphics? I've already seen the Eiffel Tower collapse in a Call of Duty game. Buildings have been destroyed, and guess what, it always looks the same. Do you tweet about other games' superior-to-Call of Duty graphics?
The CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg, said "We're pushing the boundaries technologically, graphically, and from a narrative and gameplay perspective." I'm sure that's true in comparison to other Call of Duty games. Multiple endings and 8-play co-op zombie mode will be firsts. But let's not get a rock-hard bone daddy for Black Ops 2's use of brown and gray.
Kim then went on to respond to someone's tweet about her account being hacked, and she said "Nope! And no advertising-paid tweet either! I really love COD!" Considering how much people dislike Kim Kardashian after her very public lovelife, I'm sure that Activision isn't thrilled of her professed love of CoD. And excuse me for not believing you about the "advertising-paid tweet" thing after your whole fake marriage to Kris Humphries and odd releationship with Kanye West. ***Cue tears.***
Lastly, Kim referred to the CoD commercial as "sick" and asked for people to ask her brother Rob for verification. They "play all the time." I never see that on Keeping up with the Kardashians. Who knows — maybe they'll show more of that in Kim & Kanye Take L.A. 2025. Maybe Kim does play videogames — or just CoD — but everything she says and does sounds so… fake.
