With the news that Metal Gear Solid 4 is receiving trophies more than four years after it released, I couldn’t help to think what other games needed a trophy patch. The PS3 launched without trophies almost six years ago, which resulted in some great games missing out on the rewards. These are some of the games that need trophies ASAP.
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – Oblivion is one of the best RPG’s ever made. Its large scope and branching story made it a must play when it released. Unfortunately, the PS3 version of the game is missing trophies unlike the Xbox 360 version. A game this big needs to have built in rewards for players to keep playing and to see everything there is to see.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare – Modern Warfare is still considered by many to be the best Call of Duty game on the market. This is the game that started the Call of Duty phenomenon that still exists today. Trophy enthusiasts might miss out on this epic single player experience just because it doesn’t reward them gold, silver or bronze. There wouldn’t be any multiplayer trophies though, since the Call of Duty franchise only has single player rewards.
Heavenly Sword – Heavenly Sword came out around the time of the system’s launch, and like the other near-launch games, does not have trophy support. This was a God of War style game that featured beautiful graphics and great gameplay but was more of a niche game in the community. Adding trophy support would be great for owners of the game, but the studio would never see any money from it since it’s been so long since release.
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction – This was the first Ratchet and Clank game for PS3 and certainly didn’t disappoint. Insomniac could easily add trophies that tie into the different weapons that are created and each level completed. It would make players use all the weapons and weapon mods in the game, making it a much richer experience.
Resistance: Fall of Man – This was the launch title to get when the PS3 launched in 2006. Fast-forward to 2012 and we still don’t have trophy support for this amazing game. This was my favorite Resistance game; not only because of the lengthy single player game, but because of the origin story for the Chimera was fascinating. It also helped that it had split screen support, meaning a friend could tag along for the journey.
These are the main games I would love to see trophy support for, other than Metal Gear Solid 4, which is getting trophies soon. It would be great to see these games get trophy support in the near future, although it is very unlikely.
