Roll20 brings your tabletop needs to the internet for free

Are you a tabletop gaming enthusiast?  Do you no longer have a group to play with?  Has your group moved all over the globe?  Will you just miss on session?  If any of these are the case, you absolutely need to check out Roll20.  This browser based application brings the glory of pen and paper gaming to the internet.  There are no downloads, signing up takes 1 minute, and it’s all for free.

This program will provide you with everything you’ll ever need to run a table top game: Dungeons and Dragons (any edition), Pathfinder, Shadowrun, Savage words, FATE, indie PRGs, other d20 based games, and more.  For your convenience there are dice, books, real-time graphic tabletop, chat, and video interfaces.

What surprised me about Roll20 is that is has many storytelling tools as well.  The DM or GM can run their campaigns they want to.  They can add ambient sounds, play music, and even write notes to put in specific PC’s backpacks.  I played with the DM tools a bit in creating a campaign and it’s pretty straight forward and simple to figure out.

There is honestly nothing like a good pen and paper RPG session.  If you don’t have the ability to do it in person or just to try playing with a different group, Roll20 brings it.  Check it out.  It’s free and you don’t download anything… there really shouldn’t be any hesitation.
