The two-disc PlayStation classic Dragon Warrior/Quest 7 is finally set for a remake.
The last issue of Japanese magazine Jump confirmed the new version for Nintendo 3DS, which lets players exchange "lithographs" through StreetPass.
Publisher Square Enix has already announced a release date for February 2013 in Japan. Here's hoping the role-playing gem makes its way to North America in new form, as well — and soon.
Developers Heartbeat and ArtePiazza (which worked on both the PlayStation 2 and DS remake of Dragon Quest 5: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, among others) made the game under publisher Enix, which merged with Square two years after its release in 2001.
Dragon Quest 7 was previously one of two games in the series that hadn't been ported or remade for more modern systems. Now all that remains is Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King, which came out on PlayStation 2 in 2005 with Level-5 as developer. Maybe it's next for 3DS?
