Some new, "huge" announcements concerning the story of Injustice: Gods Among Us will be made sometime in the next few months, according to developer Neatherrealm studios.
To date, we've seen plenty of gameplay footage of Injustice and have been introduced to plenty of playable characters including the most recent ones: Green Arrow, Green Lantern, and the Joker. However, the story of why these characters are fighting each other and, more importantly, how they are able to fight one another largely remains a mystery.
It's a mystery that will hopefully be solved in the next few months. Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, Netherrealm Studios producer Hector Sanchez said, "We have huge announcements coming up in the next few months concerning the story of the game that will answer the burning question fans have been asking us over and over: Just why are all of these icons fighting each other? We still have yet to reveal all of our characters, and the response that we’ve received on social media outlets on who you all want to see in the game has really inspired the team to no end."
At New York Comic Con we had the opportunity to meet up with Hector who revealed to us that the Joker will have an "integral" part in the story of Injustice: Gods Among Us. Other than that, we are just as in the dark as the rest of you. Prior to that creative director Ed Boon hinted that the lines between good and evil, particularly with Superman, will be blurred.
It seems a lot of the characters we'll play as in Injustice: Gods Among Us won't be the same ones we grew up watching and reading about. I think whatever the twists are, fans of the DC universe won't disappointed – especially since Netherrealm has had "collaboration" with Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti from DC.
When we'll hear more information remains to be seen, but Hector did tell us that the story should start "coming together and making sense" sometime around January or February 2013.
