Behind-the-scenes videos for God of War: Ascension trailer have makeup, talent, and goatees

Sony Santa Monica has released some behind-the-scenes videos that give a closer look at the creation of the recent God of War: Ascension trailer. The ad is quite impressive, showing off the hulking Ghost of Sparta in all of his badass glory … before he breaks down and falls to his knees. But that's beside the point. The fact of the matter is that even when he's visibly upset, Kratos looks like a dude who you just don't mess with.

The first behind-the-scenes video shows how the makeup artists brought Kratos to life. It looks like quite the painstaking task, but I think these talented folks managed to pull it off in the end. I mean, model Brandon White definitely looks like Kratos, who in this trailer shows his more human side. Also, dat goatee!

The second video gives a quick look at the Spartan army and how it was created. It's especially interesting to see how all of the soldiers' garbs and armor were literally built from scratch.
