SimCity, StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm headline March 2013’s PC game releases

Who says PC gaming is dead? All you need to do is look at March's game releases to see the PC gaming community is alive and thriving. Yesterday we had the release of SimCity and The Sims 3: University Life, two extremely popular PC-exclusive games.  Looking ahead, we'll see Heart of the Swarm, the highly anticipated expansion to Blizzard's StarCraft 2. Below are just a few notable PC releases we'll see this month.

SimCity – March 5, 2013

SimCity

The open-ended city-building simulator makes its triumphant return this month. This time, it won't be just your city. For the first time ever, there will be multiplayer in a SimCity game. You and your buddies can work together to create a thriving region, building off the success of your neighbors and pooling resources to achieve a shared goal. Plots of land are smaller, limiting you to what you can specialize in, but that's all because of the emphasis of relying on your neighbors.

SimCity also introduces the GlassBox Engine. This powerful engine is the life force behind your city, controlling the thoughts and actions of every individual Sim, while reacting to your decisions as mayor. We've started our review in progress of SimCity, but be sure to check back later this week for our final thoughts now that the servers have gone live.

The Sims 3: University Life – March 5, 2013

University Life

EA's The Sims 3 gets yet another expansion this month. University Life offers your Sim the ability to leave home and embark on a journey to higher education. Here you can expect to find everything you do at a normal college — attend class, meet new friends, find your social niche, and build new skills for future use. Oh, you'll also engage in "juice" pong.

As per usual expansion, University Life will add new venues, careers, objects, traits and skills. On a side note, University Life is just one of the many expansions planned throughout 2013 for The Sims 3.

StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm – March 12, 2013

SCII Heart of the Swarm

The expansion to Blizzard's StarCraft 2 finally arrives this month. Heart of the Swarm is part two of the planned StarCraft 2 trilogy and include new units and multiplayer changes from Wings of Liberty. The main draw, however, is the campaign, which is set two years after the events of Wings of Liberty and will focus on the Zerg race, featuring Sarah Kerrigan.

Resident Evil 6 – March 22, 2013

Resident Evil 6

Despite lukewarm reception on consoles, the PC version of Resident Evil 6 is shaping up to be pretty damn cool. In addition to enhanced graphics, the PC version will launch with an updated Mercenaries mode. This will add more enemies on screen at once, making it easier to obtain the combo multiplayer. Also, more foes should create for a greater challenge. The PC version will include access to Ada Wong's campaign from the outset, along with the option to play this campaign with a co-op partner.

Like I said, March is a pretty big month for PC releases. These are just a few of the many titles that will be playable this month.
