So what was the best selling Atari 2600 game of all time?

Our friends over at VGChartz were able to pull up some fascinating data on a very old console. Heck, the Atari 2600 was before my time, as I grew up strictly on the NES.

In this first feature, VGChartz focuses on the Atari console, with more retro console data to follow.

VGChartz:

The Atari 2600 is a video game platform released in September 1977 by Atari. It is credited with popularizing the use a cartridge-based system (although the Fairchild Channel F was actually the first console to do this) which could play multiple games rather than having games built-in as previous systems had.

So what is the best selling Atari 2600 game? Turns out it's Pac Man, by a longshot too! Sitting at 7.81 million units sold. That's impressive considering the next game on the list is Pitfall which pushed 4.5 million units. That's quite a huge difference! Check out the full list of Atari titles right here.

If these numbers interest you, stay tuned to VGChartz which will continue this feature with the highest selling NES game.
