Rumor: Ryse and a new Forza just two of the next-generation Xbox’s launch games

If you’re growing tired of hearing Xbox 720 rumors on the daily, do what former Microsoft employee Adam Orth advised: deal with it. Okay, but really, we understand that it’s become a daily event – “Today’s next-gen Xbox rumors roundup” seems to be a legitimate column topic – but at least today’s rumor actually deals with games.

According to a report from The Verge, Crytek’s first-person Roman combat game Ryse and a new Forza will be just two of the next-generation Xbox’s launch titles. The report comes from a number of anonymous sources that have confirmed that Ryse has specifically been re-worked into a next-generation game “designed to be Microsoft's new Gears of War / Halo mega launch title.”

In addition, the report confirms that Microsoft is helping Crytek with their game, as it nears a likely fall launch window. The game itself allegedly “uses deep Kinect integration to allow players to slash and kick at enemies.” Ryse is said to “take advantage of the new body tracking improvements in the next Kinect sensor.”

Oh, and that Forza game we hinted at earlier? The anonymous sources didn’t reveal much, aside from that fact that the game features “super life-like graphics.” Yeah, super life-like.

And if that’s not enough, the sources also teased at a zombie launch game, and more attractively a “family game set on an island with Pixar movie-style graphics” that “will utilize Kinect to scan a body and generate a virtual character in the game.”

It probably goes without saying, but every console launch needs a racing game and a family game. Seeing how Forza is Microsoft’s goldmine, these rumors are most likely true, granted they didn’t really touch on anything worth raving over. Ryse, on the other hand, is interesting because it’s not a powerhouse franchise like Gears of War or Halo, but it’ll certainly draw attention nonetheless. And that family game? Who knows.
