Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag arguably stole the show this past weekend at San Diego Comic Con with its real-life Jackdaw pirate ship that hosted hundreds of photos, gaming personnel and fans alike. However, merriment and revelry aside, Black Flag also made the news during a developer team interview that gave us all a better look at what’s to come this fall when the game hits store shelves. One question in particular shed light into the presence, or lack thereof, of Desmond…
…and that is that Desmond will both be present and not present in Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
Lead writer Darby McDevitt was asked during the panel whether or not fans would get closure with Desmond to which McDevitt responded, “Desmond's story is over (that's not a spoiler), but the story of the Assassins goes on.”
He added that though Desmond’s story will not be central to Black Flag, you’ll learn more about what played out at the end of Assassin’s Creed 3:
“The more you dig into the present day, the more you'll discover about what happened with Desmond – there's tons of content.”
In addition, McDevitt was posed with a question regarding whether or not the Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed team would pull the trigger on a present day title. His response? “There's always a chance, but one of the biggest draws of the series is the historical "tourism."
If the question has been asked once, it’s been asked a hundred times, but where would you like to see the Assassin’s Creed series go both geographically and historically in the future? Let us know by commenting below.
