A new feature for Xbox One’s Kinect is the ability to discern between two people talking at the same time, this according to Microsoft’s Phil Spencer at the Eurogamer Expo in London.
Spencer took the stage in London alongside lead developer Nick Burton to talk about the new technology and how it will impact the future of gaming and entertainment. Burton also confirmed at the event that Kinect “2.0” will not only discern between two people talking at the same time, but will be able to see whether their mouths are moving in a dark room.
Despite having this capability, Spencer clarified earlier that the device will not record or upload conversations, adding that users are “in control of what Kinect can see and hear. By design, you will determine how responsive and personalized your Xbox One is to you and your family during setup. When Xbox One is on and you're simply having a conversation in your living room, your conversation is not being recorded or uploaded."
