Here’s how fast Xbox One turns on from standby mode

Earlier this month, Xbox Director of Product Planning Albert Penello boasted that from standby mode, Xbox One will turn on faster than your television. Now seeing as how everyone's televisions differ, Microsoft's Larry 'Major Nelson' Hyrb has released a new video showing us just how fast the Xbox One really does turn on and sign you in from standby mode, using the Kinect voice recognition.

Now there's no time indicator in the video, but counting from the time Nelson says "Xbox On" to the time he can actually navigate the menus is about 10-13 seconds. Keep in mind, this is not from a cold boot up, but rather from standby mode which Penello previously explained is the mode in which the "Xbox On" command works.

In comparison, a previously released user-made video showed the PlayStation 4 turning on in just about 17 seconds from a cold boot. And while PS4 will support limited voice commands at launch, you won't be able to wake it up with your voice while in standby mode. You can, however, turn it off with your voice.

As we head into the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One, there seems to be a lot of fascination over how quickly the systems boot up. Is the difference between 15 and 30 seconds really that critical?
