Thief developers doing away with quick-time events after negative reactions

Eidos Montreal is hard at work on the current and next-gen release of Thief, and it's listening to what critics and fans are saying.

For one, it's completely removing quick-time events (QTEs) from the action-adventure stealth game because no one outside the studio and publisher Square Enix seems to like them.

"To begin with, there were very few instances of QTEs in the game; in fact there was only one in that whole hour-long E3 demo," wrote Eidos Montreal web content manager Valerie Bourdeau in a blog post. "However, given the strong reactions it evoked in the press and the community, it was an easy decision to do away with them entirely. So we're not doing it. No quick time."

Sounds good to me.

Thief launches for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Feb. 25 next year.
