In typical fashion for directors like Christopher Nolan or J.J. Abrams, the first trailer for an upcoming movie shows and describes very little about the movie. Such is the case for Nolan' upcoming sci-fi film Interstellar.
That doesn't mean that the trailer isn't good. It's actually very inspiring. With Matthew McConaughey voicing over shots of different periods in our history of space exploration, it's hard to not get goosebumps during it. Somewhere along the way, we lost our excitement for space exploration. This trailer fully restores that, and fittingly so, since the movie revolves around a team that uses a wormhole for interstellar travel.
The official synopsis reads:
A group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.
Very vague as to story specifics, but a visit to interstellar-movie.com reveals a little more: "In the future, governments and economies across the globe have collapsed, food is scarce, NASA is no more, and the 20th Century is to blame. A mysterious rip in spacetime opens and it's up to whatever is left of NASA to explore and offer up hope for mankind."
Interstellar, written and directed by Christopher Nolan, stars Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Wes Bentley, Casey Affleck, Michael Caine, John Lithgow and Topher Grace. It is mainly based on the scientific theories and script treatment of renowned theoretical physicist Kip Thorne.
Interstellar releases on November 7, 2014.
