nDreams confirms games for PS4, Oculus Rift

Developer nDreams, most well-known for its items on the PlayStation Home, is working on their "most ambitious" game yet — a new title for the PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, no specific details were mentioned in an official press release, but the studio did refer to it as "something truly special." The mysterious new PS4 game is expected to launch some time in 2014, so we'll be sure to keep an eye out on nDreams announcements.

Meanwhile, in the same announcement, the studio mentioned another project, but for the Oculus Rift. Having experience in the virtual reality realm with their game SkyDIEving — an "experimental-game-demo-falling simulator-game thing" — I'm eager to see their plans for the new Rift project.

"VR is an area of technology that we believe will finally come of age in 2014, and you’ll see us investing a great deal of time and money into it," said nDreams CEO Patrick O’Luanaigh. "The technology capable of making VR work properly has finally arrived.

"I had the pleasure of spending some time at OculusVR's HQ last month, and I was blown away by their ambition (they recently announced another $75m of funding) and how rapidly the hardware is improving as they head towards a consumer launch. We’ve been playing around with VR for six months now (we’ve created more than 20 different experiments and prototypes), and we hope that foundation will serve us well in 2014."

Aside from these two major projects, nDreams will continue their support for PlayStation Home and will also launch three new mobile/tablet games.
