Congrats Phil Spencer, you deserve to be the head of Xbox

After Don Mattrick left Microsoft, and more specifically, the Xbox, behind, many wondered who Microsoft would appoint as the new head. Many also looked to Phil Spencer, the one stand up guy at Microsoft, who actually led Microsoft's internal gaming studios. What does this mean? Well, it means we're getting a guy who knows games, to run the gaming division of Microsoft, and that's a very good thing.

Many of you no doubt recall Microsoft's announcement of the Xbox One, which focused on a bunch of things, but very little of them with actual games. What we got was a lot of promise of TV with a heavy dose of sports. E3 2013 turned it around a bit where Microsoft seemed to fully focus on the gaming future of their console. It looks like Phil Spencer hopes to continue that trend.

I will now be leading the Xbox, Xbox Live, and creative teams including Xbox Music, Xbox Video and Microsoft Studios as we deliver the next generation of games and entertainment. Combining these teams will strengthen the connection between some of the world’s most innovative creators and those building the Xbox itself. I am incredibly proud of the talented Xbox employees around the world and believe, like they do, in the power of technology to bring games and entertainment to life across console, PC, tablet and mobile devices.  It’s been a remarkable year for Xbox and I am honored to lead the team at this incredible time for Microsoft and the games industry.

Listen, if there is anyone who deserved to be the head of Xbox, it's the guy who wore a Crackdown shirt during a press conference.
