Heroes of the Storm: Brightwing abilities revealed

Over the weekend, Blizzard revealed four new heroes for their MOBA game, Heroes of the Storm. One of them was Brightwing, a fairy dragon "with a little edge" and the ability to teleport to any ally on the map about every 40 or so seconds.

"Cute does not equal harmless, and Brightwing the Faerie Dragon is a mischievous little dragon with a big appetite who hails from the Warcraft universe," Blizzard said of the new hero. "In Heroes of the Storm, Brightwing takes on the role of a high-mobility Support healer, so you’ll definitely want to stay on her good side when you battle in the Nexus!"

Starting Abilities

Arcane Flare

Nothing slows down a rampaging enemy like briefly turning them into a cute, fuzzy critter. Plus, it’s a ton of fun.

Polymorph

Nothing slows down a rampaging enemy like briefly turning them into a cute, fuzzy critter. Plus, it’s a ton of fun.

Pixie Dust

It won’t let you fly, but a sprinkle of this pixie dust at least lets you run faster, and it even protects you from enemy attacks. Not too shabby, pixie dust.

Heroic Abilities

Emerald Wind

Drawing from the power of the Emerald Dream, Brightwing creates a slowly expanding vortex of energy that pushes away her enemies…sometimes right into the waiting clutches of her teammates.

Blink Heal

In moments of direst need Brightwing can blink rapidly from targeted ally to ally, healing them immediately for a small amount, and leaving residual energies that continue to mend their wounds over time.

Battleground Tips

  • Instead of using a mount, Brightwing is able to teleport to an ally Hero using "Phase Shift" [Z]. This mobility-focused ability can be especially useful on Dragonshire, where Brightwing’s "Phase Shift" can help teammates secure objectives on the other side of the map.
  • Stay near your teammates! Brightwing’s combat trait "Soothing Mist" will automatically heal any allies next to her after a short amount of time.
  • "Arcane Flair" [Q] has a short cast time, so try using it as a zoning tool, rather than simply as a source of damage.
  • Use "Polymorph" [W] on huge targets such as Tassadar’s Twilight Messiah, Stitches, or Diablo!
