Call of Duty: Ghosts is a part of the ESPN X Games this year. Seriously

From today's "not from the Onion" corner of the newsroom comes the addition of Call of Duty: Ghosts to the ESPN X Games.

MLG and ESPN have combined for the MLG X Games Invitiational, taking place during X Games Austin from June 6th to the 8th. The top five Call of Duty: Ghosts teams (basd on MLG Pro Points rankings) will compete in the tournament. In addition, the top three reams from the most recent Call of Duty championship (CompLexity, EnVyUs, and OpTic Gaming) will also attend.

Here's a statement regarding the arrangement from Don Reilley, MLG's EVP of Sales:

The popularity of competitive gaming and the MLG Pro Circuit is at an all-time high with millions watching the best gamers compete each month on MLG.tv. This collaboration with X Games will help further bring MLG to the mainstream while we provide advertisers with quality exposure and deep engagement with our fan base on MLG.tv across all platformers.

I guess if ESPN can air Magic: the Gathering, then the X Games can include Call of Duty.
