Deep Silver has announced that Metro Redux, a next-gen bundle of fully-remastered and improved versions of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, will be released on August 26 in North America. The bundle will be priced at $49.99, but you also have the option to buy each game separately as a digital download for $24.99 each.
In addition to the graphics upgrades, Metro Redux features never-before-seen content and new gameplay features, while running at 60 frames per second. Metro 2033 has been completely rebuilt using the 4A Engine, the same engine that powered the newer Metro: Last Light. Improved gameplay includes "advanced enemy AI, improved combat and stealth mechanics, superior weapon handling, more responsive controls, and signature features from Last Light," like the atmospheric mask wipe mechanic, weapon customization, and silent kills and takedowns. It also boasts "advanced lighting, dynamic weather, more detailed characters with improved animation, more dynamic destruction and improved smoke, fire and particle effects."
Metro: Last Light Redux has also received a graphical facelift, new melee animations, and the fan-requested "Check Watch" and "Check Inventory" features. All previously released Season Pass add-on content is also included, adding an additional 10 hours of single-player gameplay.
Additionally, Metro Redux offers two different gameplay modes that cater to your playstyle. If you prefer survival horror, you can play both campaigns in the Survival playstyle, "a fraught slow-burn fight for survival with limited resources, deadlier enemy AI, and slower reload speeds." For those who prefer more action, you can play the Spartan playstyle which provides Artyom with "a powerful set of combat skill and more plentiful resources." There's also the Ranger Mode which removes the HUD and applies hardcore rules.
