Minecraft is the game that allows you to build almost whatever you want, as long as you have the vision and the skill to build it. No matter who you are or what you've built in Minecraft, you have to be impressed by this: A gamer sat down and built a fully functional 1 KB Hard Drive in Minecraft.
Take that in for a second. Someone built a Hard Drive in a PC game.
The build comes from Redditor SmellyString who showed off his build in a post on r/Minecraft. Now as it is the nature of the internet, someone did call Smelly out and say it's less of a Hard Drive and more of a Tape Drive, but come on! This is a creation to be marveled at, not nitpick at the details. Let's just appreciate the amount of time Smelly put into this.
If you're wondering how it works, the HD is tied to command blocks with the /setblock command.
You won't be surprised to know that Smelly is working on a PhD in Computer Science.
Fun fact from Smelly:
To store a copy of itself, I would need 855 of these. (The compressed map file is about 855 KB.) In order to store the contents of my hard drive I would need approximately one billion of these. (Literally!)
Do yourself a favor and check out the full extent of the build right here.
