Here's your daily dose of dumb for the day. According to a recent study done by VoucherCloud.net, 11% of Americans think that the coding language used to create websites, HTML is an STD. No, seriously. Perhaps they got it confused with HIV? I have no idea.
Among other neat little tidbits, 27% of those surveyed thought that a "gigabyte" was an insect found in South America. Spoiler alert, it's not. Other numbers included 42% thinking that a "motherboard" was "the deck of a cruise ship.", 23% believed that an "MP3" was a "Star Wars" robot, 18% confused a "Blu-ray" with a marine animal, and (this is the best one IMO) 15% said they believed "software" was another word for comfortable clothing. Gee, let me go put on my software.
Apparently, the day and age of technology being everywhere hasn't exactly reached…everywhere. Hopefully, with time and education, these numbers will see a significant drop, but until then, enjoy them for what they are.
