Deep Silver has released nearly 10 minutes of gameplay footage of Dead Island Riptide. In the video, creative producer Alex Toplansky walks us through a hub-defense mission, one of the many new features introduced in Dead Island Riptide.
Along the way, Toplansky will point out other new additions including new weapons and a new form of transportation. With the storm having ravaged the island, boats are the only viable way to travel in some areas. Boats feature several new gameplay elements like a boost function and defensive position for the game's multiplayer feature.
But enough about that, let's get to the highlight of the video, the new tower defense gameplay! The tower defense portion is a type of mission-hub that requires you to set up and plan your defenses, and then defend it at all cost. I know tower defense mini-games can sometimes be lame, but this new feature seems to allow for some intense, action-packed sequences.
