2013 promises plenty of expansions for The Sims 3

The Sims 3, which was released all the way back in 2009, has remained in the limelight thanks to a healthy dose of add-on content over the years. If you though 2012 was a big year for the game, in terms of expansion packs and add-ons, then you're in for a real treat. EA has released the line-up for The Sims 3 add-on content for 2013 and it is chock-full of awesome goodies and surprises.

Kicking off the new year will be the recently announced expansion, The Sims 3 University Life, which is set to release in March. This will give your Sim a chance to leave home and attend a university, where they can explore an all-new college town filled with fun locations and wild college antics, like juice keg stands and protests in the quad. You can learn more about The Sims 3 University Life in this feature we wrote earlier today.

Following shortly thereafter will be The Sims 3 Island Paradise, an oceanic-themed expansion that will release in June. For the first time in The Sims franchise history, this expansion pack will allow you to take your Sim to the high seas. You'll be at the helm of a fully customizable houseboat and set sail in search of uncharted islands. You can also create and manage your own resorts or discover what lies beneath the ocean with the new skill-based scuba diving and snorkeling activities.

Lastly, launching this fall, is an all-new stuff pack filled with clothing and décor inspired by iconic movie themes and settings. That's not all, this year your Sim will also be able to time travel into the future with yet another new expansion pack, which is currently untitled. EA has promised more details will be revealed in the coming months, but I think we can all agree we have enough to look forward to as it is.

Yes sir, 2013 sure looks promising for The Sims 3. Any expansion, in particular, you are looking forward to?
