After seeing the world 28 days after a zombie outbreak, then 28 weeks after the outbreak, it's time we see what happens 28 months after the outbreak. Director Alex Garland is moving forward with the next installment in the zombie series, 28 Months Later.
Garland never seemed enthused with the idea of a sequel, but he has been convinced by director/producer/writer Danny Boyle to move forward with a sequel with Andrew Mc Donald acting as a writer.
Speaking with Indie Wire, Garland explained the process behind it: “About two years ago, Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionaire) started collaborating on the potential to make ‘Trainspotting 2,’ another sequel,” Garland explained. “In that conversation, an idea for '28 Months' arrived. I had a sort of weird idea that popped into my head. Partly because of a trip I'd taken. I had this thought, and I suggested it to Andrew and Danny, but I also said I don't want to work on it. I don't really want to play a role, and Andrew said, 'Leave it to me.' So he's gone off and is working on it.”
