The Nintendo 3DS may have been the top-selling platform across hardware and portables for May 2013, but when it comes to strictly console hardware platforms, the Xbox 360 remains the top dog here in the United States. For the twenty-ninth consecutive month, the Xbox 360 was the best-selling console in the U.S.
For the 4-week period spanning May 5, 2013 through June 1, 2013, total retail spend on the Xbox 360 — hardware, software, and accessories — reached $149.8 million, the most for any console in the U.S. Seven of the top 10 console games, including Injustice: Gods Among Us, BioShock Infinite, and Halo 4, were available on the console.
While the future may be the Xbox One, Microsoft hasn't yet given up on the Xbox 360. At E3 last week, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer, Yusuf Mehdi, introduced the new Xbox 360, which sports a sleeker and more stylized design that aligns with the new Xbox One. But beyond the Xbox 360 is the Xbox One, the all-in-one entertainment device that will be the center of your living room experience. While the initial reveal of the new system was focused more on home entertainment, Microsoft's E3 2013 press conference was all about the games. Microsoft revealed exclusive titles like Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, Killer Instinct, and Dead Rising 3.
