2K Czech, the developer responsible for Mafia II, is rumored to be contributing to the development of Grand Theft Auto 5.
A source close to VG247 has said the Czech studio has been "putting its cinematic expertise to work in producing animations for cutscenes and general gameplay" in GTA 5. 2K Czech is said to have been working on the game, headed by Rockstar Games, for "almost a year".
Grand Theft Auto 5 was announced back in November 2011, but we've heard very little about the game since then. Take-Two did recently say GTA 5 was "making great progress" in development, but refused to commit to a release date, calling the release window "still far off".
According to the site, the collaborative effort is going both ways, with Rockstar sharing its tech know-how with 2K Czech as parent company Take-Two prepares to turn the Mafia series into a major franchise.
The unannounced Mafia III is said to have entered full development after a year of pre-production "in which the game's concepts and tech were stripped back to basics and rebuilt".
