2K teases new dystopian game, Advent

2K, the publisher behind games like Evolve, Borderlands and BioShock has begun teasing a new game titled Advent. The reveal came through a Tweet from 2K that offered a somewhat cryptic message, "Luxury for the privileged is outdated. This is the future of urban living. #ADVENT."

The cryptic part comes from the image attached to the Tweet, an image that twists the initial message:

If you head to the site linked in the Tweet, you will find yourself on Advent's promotional website where they tout things like gene therapy to remove illness, safety, and prosperity. The site is seemingly afflicted by a "bug" (it is intentionally placed) that counters most of Advent's statements in red text.

From what the site offers, Advent is making itself out to be a dystopian game. Advent promises to quarantine people into "cities of tomorrow" where there is no hunger, pain sickness or war — most of which are achieved through mutating genes. I recall BioShock and Resident Evil toying around with altering the human make-up and it didn't work out so well for those communities.

It is very possible that this is the next step in the XCOM game series (snooping on LinkedIn led me to seeing the XCOM developers working on an unnannounced game).
