Trying to keep up with the blue blur is exhausting. But that doesn't mean it wasn't fun trying in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, using a second Genesis controller to play as Tails in the single-player mode. When 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 arrives on the 3DS eShop in September, that same capability will remain in place.
In preparation for the game's launch in Japan next week, which is one day before we get 3D Streets of Rage 2, a new microsite has appeared and it confirms that a second player will be able to play as Tails in the single-player component with their own copy of 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The 3D Classics entry will also include features seen in 3D Sonic the Hedgehog, such as being able to change your display screen to simulate the appearance of playing on an older TV set.
Being able to follow Sonic with your own view of the screen will surely make for a different experience — although the split-screen feature will remain in two-player mode.
