3DS remake of first-person shooter Moon coming this spring

Renegade Kid is remaking its first-person shooter Moon for 3DS this spring — and you'll be buying it by the episode.

Moon launched for Nintendo's DS handheld in January 2009. Developer Renegade Kid teased that it was working on an FPS for 3DS, and Moon Chronicles is it.

Players control Major Kane, who's investigating a hatch of unknown origin on Earth's moon.

The first episode will be the priciest at $9. It spans chapters one through four, contains six virtual reality (VR) missions, and lasts four hours.

Episodes two through four will be released as downloadable content for $2 apiece. Each runs about two hours and delivers four chapters for a total of 16.

A second season could expand on the game's events with fresh content.
