Mobile game publisher Tapinator has released a free iOS game simply titled Rocky. With the 40 year anniversary of the Rocky movie series, this mobile game created in conjunction with MGM Interactive pits Rocky against the world of boxing.
Looking similar to Punch Club, a game ironically loosely based on the story of Rocky and a multitude of other 80s and 90s icons, Rocky has players fighting their way to the top of the ring, facing familiar faces from the movies like Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago. The big difference from Punch Club seems to be the interaction in fights. Land combos, counters, dodge and weave with RPG and card collecting elements. Fans of the movies will relive familiar scenes and music throughout.
The game stars Rocky of course, but comes with 37 unlockable characters. Players can challenge other real player's characters as they've built them. Gyms can be built up to make your character stronger, including unlocks and training stats with Mick.
The game is free and relies mostly on in-game unlock rewards. Available on the App Store.
