The Tokyo Game Show is currently underway in the land of the rising sun, but gamers worldwide have reason to celebrate. Since Japan has a massive gaming industry, many publishers have decided to release new details and footage about their upcoming titles. One of these – and arguably the biggest – is Death Stranding. Up until now, the game has firmly stayed shrouded in mystery about what it actually is, despite many trailers. That’s Hideo Kojima for you. The legendary game designer has a penchant for subverting expectations keeping gamers in the dark. Just remember the iconic bait-and-switch by introducing a different protagonist for Metal Gear Solid 2.

Since his infamous departure from Konami, Kojima started his own company, Kojima Productions, and quickly began work on an entirely new IP. Something he simply wasn’t able to do during his long tenure at Konami. Since his resume reads like a list of most important games ever, expectations and hype for his new game Death Stranding have reached stratospheric heights. For now, the game is a PlayStation 4 exclusive and as such, today’s new details are published on the PlayStation Blog. Make sure to read the whole article there to get a better understanding of the game’s mechanics and don’t forget to watch the lengthy gameplay demo below. It’s only available in Japanese at the moment, but we’ll add the English version once it gets uploaded.

Death Stranding is set to come out this November 8th exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
