If you're looking to scam people with counterfeit Pokémon plushies, you won't want to do it in South Korea. a Pokémon plushie scam ring has been broken up, revealing 530,000 Pokémon plushies – which are worth around $6.3 million total.
According to Yonhap News, the confiscated plushies weren't simply a licensing issue (they made by or endorsed by The Pokémon Company), they were also found to have a dangerous substance on them. The fake Pokémon plushies were smuggled into South Korea between April 25 and June 2, where they began making their way in arcades as crane game prizes.
Once authorities found out that fake Pokémon plushies were making their rounds, they removed them from arcades and seized 530,000 fake plushies.
