Sony made a bold decision with the DualShock 4 controller by ditching the traditional "Select" and instead opting for a new "Share" button that gives PS4 gamers the ability to capture and upload their gameplay footage. Sony has made it a point to emphasize the PS4's social capabilities for next-gen and the Share button makes all of that possible. But is it really something gamers use?
If Sony's latest figures are to be believed, then yes. Shortly after announcing that more than 2.1 million PS4 consoles have been sold since launch, Sony revealed that the system's "Share" feature has been used more than 6.5 million times.
In all honesty, this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. Gamers love boasting about their achievements and the Share feature allows a user to easily post screenshots or gameplay clips to Facebook and stream footage to Ustream and Twitch. It's easier now more than ever to share your gameplay experiences with the masses.
