Following up today's announcement that over 4.2 million PlayStation 4 consoles have been sold as of December 28, 2013, Sony also revealed how game sales for the console are faring. While sales numbers for specific games weren't detailed, Sony confirmed that more than 9.7 million copies of PS4 games have been sold worldwide. This number includes sales through retail stores and digital downloads on PlayStation Store as of December 28, 2013.
Sony named a few of the top performing games which include Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, and Killzone: Shadow Fall.
While the overall sales for PlayStation 4 games appears impressive, it actually only figures to an attachment rate of just over two titles per PlayStation 4 sold. But with a relatively weak launch lineup and one of the PS4's best rated games, Resogun, free for PS Plus members, this can be viewed as a success.
PlayStation gamers had another reason to celebrate today as Sony unveiled PlayStation Now, a new service that will allow people to stream PSOne, PS2, and PS3 games to PlayStation 4, Vita, and other electronic devices like tablets, smartphones, and TVs.
