A closer look at the Infected in The Last of Us

Earlier this month, I had attended a Sony-held press event where I had a chance to go hands-on with The Last of Us. During this time I was introduced to Joel and Ellie, the post-apocalyptic world in which they live in, and the Infected. As you read in my preview, surviving this world was no easy task.

The Infected are a terrifyingly deadly bunch, but there's a lot more to them than what appears. In the first episode of a new The Last of Us development series, the team at Naughty Dog gives us a closer, more in-depth look at the origin and characteristics of the Infected. The first video, titled "Hush," details the concept and mannerisms of these once-human creatures.

I love hearing the idea behind a concept as in-depth as the Infected. The fact that they aren't just zombies makes it all the better. The Last of Us is shaping up to be quite a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Granted, I only have a brief gameplay session and trailers to judge by, but even during my playthrough I was pleased with what I saw.

The Last of Us is due out for PS3 on June 14, 2013.
