Indie icon and bona fide classic Terraria is now finished. After a whopping nine years since its launch, the open-world survival and crafting game got its ultimate update. Version 1.4.1 is now live on PC. Mobile users will get the update later this month and consoles will have to wait a bit longer.
So much can change in a decade. Three console generations and all manner of industry trends have come and go. But the small indie title that could weather all storms. Terraria consistently remained among the most-played games for all these years. Even today, tens of thousands of gamers are still enjoying it.
But every good thing must come to an end inevitably. And with Version 1.4.1 Terraria has reached its own. Users who followed the game’s development might be confused since the supposed last content update arrived this May already. Indie developer Re-Logic wanted to still improve its game.
Blending elements of classic action games with the freedom of sandbox-style creativity, Terraria is a unique gaming experience where both the journey and the destination are completely in the player’s control.
Version 1.4.1 comes with a smattering of bug fixes, as expected, but there is also new content. Arguably the more important portion of the final update. New achievements, a new important NPC with ‘The Princess’, new items, and loads of general quality of life changes are included. You can read about all of them in great detail on the official forum post here.
As mentioned, the update is only live on the PC for now but the developer stated that the mobile versions will get it this month. When asked about console versions, no concrete dates were shared apart from a “working on it” remark. Expect to see those in the near future.
