A Total War Saga: TROY to launch on the Epic Games Store for free

Sega and Creative Assembly have shared fascinating news about the next chapter in their massively popular historical strategy franchise Total War. This time, players will be able to experience one of the most epic tales with A Total War Saga: TROY. The game is yet another Epic Games Store exclusive and will even be given away for the first 24 hours when it launches August 13. What? Yes, you’ve read right.

Epic just is not stopping on their relentless conquest to become a major player in the PC gaming scene. For over 1½ years, the company has been making numerous exclusivity deals to bring games on their PC gaming client. The Epic Games Store.

On top of exclusives, Epic has been meaning to sway over gamers with dozens upon dozens of free game giveaways. Arguably the biggest one being Rockstar’s seminal GTAV. But it’s getting wilder! Just last week we reported that the Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection was going to be given away for absolutely free right from the launch for a period of seven days.

We’re really excited about TROY, and we’re even more excited that this will give more of you the chance to play and enjoy it than might have had it otherwise. While we know that some of you won’t like the Epic Games Store exclusivity, we feel like this is a great opportunity for us in a lot of ways, and we’re hoping that you’ll take some time to hear us out and for us to answer what some of the questions we think you might have.

If you thought that was insane, Sega is ready to blow your mind. Unlike the retro fighter collection, A Total War Saga: TROY is a full-blown new, big game release. And it’s also being given away for free at launch. This time between a 24-hour window. That’s unheard of!

The developers of A Total War Saga: TROY have openly released a statement regarding this incredible deal in a blog post. There, we learn that TROY will be coming to Steam eventually after 12 months and that today doesn’t mark a precedent for future Total War. Indeed, they openly state that this exclusivity is a one-off.
